It is also important that you make sure everyone in your household knows what evening activities are taking place and when they will be occurring. This includes children if applicable because it is important that they know when you will and won’t be available for evening activities.

1. Start Slow
After a long day, evening routines should be relaxing and enjoyable. If your schedule is packed with activities that leave you feeling overwhelmed or anxious then it’s time to scale back.
Instead of trying to fit everything into one evening routine give yourself permission for a slow evening where you can unwind step-by-step.
2. Create a Space for Your Evening Routine
Creating an evening routine space can be as simple as finding a certain area in your house. If that’s not possible, then designate one drawer or cabinet to store all of the evening routine supplies you need and make sure it is easily accessible.
When you create more space to set up evening routines, you are more likely to do them.
3. Start with a Bath or Shower
The evening is the perfect time for a hot bath. Taking a warm bath will help you relax and remove any tension from your body.
If you don’t have time to take an evening bath, then at least try using some Epsom salts in the evening shower to reduce stress and soothe tired muscles.
Spend at least 20 minutes in the bath or shower really taking in the moment. You can even play some soft music in the background.
4. Light Some Candles
Candles are a great way to set the mood for the evening. Whether you enjoy lavender, vanilla, or any other fragrance that helps you relax and unwind choose one (or more) candles based on your favorite smell.

Take some deep breaths in order to help yourself stay relaxed as you watch TV or read one last page from a book. Avoid anything that’s too stimulating such as doing your evening workout because you want to be able to fall asleep as soon as possible.
When winding down, the best way for most people is by laying in their bed or on a couch so they have room for stretching out if necessary. If there are any pets at home that need walking then do it now before starting your evening routine and set up their evening meal and water for them.
Letting your pets out one last time is also a good idea before going to sleep because it will prevent them from waking you up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning which can reduce noise disturbance when trying to fall asleep.
Remember that evening relaxation doesn’t have to be long, even as short as five minutes can make a huge difference.
