21 Essential Ways to Make Life Easier

Life is known to have its ups and downs. We go through good times, we go through bad times, and everything in between. What if I told you there are small things you could apply to your everyday routine, to make life easier?

Sometimes we get caught up in committing to things that don’t serve us purpose, fall behind on taking care of our health and well-being, and more.

We find ourselves frustrated and stressed out, wondering how life has gotten so hard to deal with. We ask ourselves when it will be possible to find time to do anything and when we will start to feel happy again. This could lead us down a path of self-destruction.

If we take an opportunity to figure out how we can regroup and reconstruct our lives, to be more beneficial for ourselves as well as those around us, we can come out on the other side and realize that life can be easier. Here’s how:

21 Ways to Make Your Life Easier

1. Develop Good Routines

Every day starts with a good routine. This is a time for you to add value to your life, motivate you to stay organized, focus on self-care, and practice healthy habits.

You can create both a morning or night routine to increase productivity and growth.

2. Practice Self-Care

Let’s touch a bit more on self-care. Spending 15 or 30 minutes a day taking care of yourself will lead to an easier life. How?

Instead of feeling stressed out that you aren’t able to set some time aside to do the things you love, you can embrace this time to focus on you.

3. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Not taking things personally is an essential part of making your life easier, as well as the lives of others.

Remember that other people’s behavior is not always about you, it’s about them.

By not allowing it to affect you, and staying true to yourself- will keep your mind at ease. You will be ready to face any situation that is presented to you.

4. Let Go of Toxic People

Toxic people bring you down and have the power to add negativity to your life. Take away that power.

Often, toxic people aren’t aware that they are toxic. But you are aware, and you can make your life easier by letting them go.

This person could even be a family member or friend, which could make letting them go much more difficult.

Remind yourself that your mental wellbeing comes first, and you need to do what’s best for you in the long run.

5. Stop Trying to Please People

Do you find yourself constantly seeking approval from people, by agreeing with them or doing things for them?

Stop trying to seek the approval of others and stay true to your own values. You can’t make everyone happy in life, especially when it causes you to sacrifice your own needs.

6. Learn How to Say No

Speaking of people-pleasing, do you also find it hard to say no…even when you REALLY want to? Do you feel guilty about saying no, to the point where you end up agreeing to something or committing to things you may not have time for?

You’re not alone. Most people find it hard to say no. But you can make your life so much easier, by learning the power of no.

It’s perfectly ok to set your boundaries and decline some offers or commitments. Try to become more comfortable with it and you may find that it can completely empower you.

7. Always Be Honest

This goes for yourself and others. Honestly really is the best policy, and learning how to truly live by your truth with lead you down the right path.

There are many benefits to being honest, such as earning the trust of others, the ability to be proud of yourself, less stress- the list goes on.

8. Take Responsibility for Your Actions and Mistakes

We all make mistakes sometimes, it’s what makes us human. The truth is, it’s all about how you react to your mistakes and how you take ownership of them.

For example, say you made a mistake at work that ended up costing the company. Would it be easier to accept responsibility and be honest with your boss, or would you try to cover it up?

If you choose to cover it up, the cost could be more than you bargained for. Taking ownership shows strength – others recognize this and tend to be more forgiving.

9. Practice Patience

We could all use a bit more patience in our lives. Try not to let the little things get to you. Easier said than done, but when you practice patience, you are able to remain calm and collected in every situation. This will have a positive effect on your mental well-being.

10. Accept Disappointment in Life

Disappointments are bound to occur in our lives. People may disappoint us, and we may disappoint ourselves. The point is to accept disappointment as a part of life.

Try not to take these disappointments to heart, keep in mind that everyone is still changing and growing.

11. Practice Self-Love

Start loving yourself, unconditionally each and every day. You can practice self-love by taking care of yourself, using daily affirmations, and having self-compassion.

Remember not to be too hard on yourself, and focus on trying to be your best version of you.

12. Set Achievable Goals

Setting goals that are out of your reach can lead to disappointment. Try setting small achievable goals, otherwise known as mini-goals, to give you a boost of motivation.

13. Ask for Help When Needed

We sometimes feel a little embarrassed about asking for help, maybe it’s that we don’t want to bother others or feel that we can go at it alone.

But we actually do ourselves a disservice by not asking for help.

People are usually more than willing to step in and help out, and if we ask ourselves if we are willing to help others- most likely we feel the same way. By not seeking help, we prevent ourselves from learning how to do something.

To make life easier, shift your perspective and become more comfortable asking for help.

Remind yourself that it’s perfectly okay to ask questions and accept the fact that you can’t possibly know how to do everything in life.

14. Practice Gratitude

Being grateful for what you have, instead of what you don’t leads to a content and happy life.

You can practice gratitude by writing down some things you are thankful for or by saying these things aloud.

15. Learn How to Forgive Others

As I mentioned before, people are bound to disappoint us from time to time. And that’s okay, this gives us the opportunity to practice forgiveness.

Forgiveness is approached differently by different people. There is no right way to learn how to forgive. Sometimes it takes time.

We can make our lives easier by not holding onto anger or feelings of resentment and allow room to forgive at our own pace.
